REMOURBAN’s recent trio of project events marked the end of a whirlwind first year for the project – and showed the pace is certainly not slowing!

Thirty-one deliverables in the first twelve months alone have assessed, researched and defined our expected potential scientific, technological, economic, competitive and social impacts. The project is already making real strides in delivering new mobility solutions, substantial energy and retrofitting works and turning data into information for local authorities and citizens like.

Just over a year in, I am proud to see we have generated new insights into citizen engagement, refined financing opportunities and business models, and made new steps in intelligent integrated infrastructures. Work in one of the lighthouse cities is developing a system for controlling and managing the charging of electric vehicles that is already in the course of being patented. Some retrofitting works to achieve low energy districts in the lighthouse cities have already started as well as the deployment of new fleets to transform the urban mobility into a more sustainable and efficient transport, and REMOURBAN expertise has been requested in Columbia, India and China. The energy, enthusiasm and great efforts of everyone on the REMOURBAN team have been inspiring.

Alongside our project cousins, GrowSmarter, Triangulum, CITYkeys and the broader family of the European Innovation Partnership and Smart Cities Information System we are all beginning to gain momentum and accelerate urban transformation in Europe. We also have some new additions to the family in SCC1 projects SmartENcity, Replicate, Smarter Together, Shar-LLM and the cross cutting ‘Espresso’ initiative on standards.

Our continued work as individual projects and collectively is slowly making citizens more engaged and supportive, finance less elusive and energy more efficient on a meaningful scale.

I hope you will enjoy understanding more about REMOURBAN’s contribution to these activities in this newsletter and follow our latest developments on Twitter.
