As we approach the end of the year, our sights are set on the imminent completion of our project’s core solutions to achieve smart urban renewal in Nottingham, Tepebasi and Valladolid. This will be crucial milestone in Remourban’s lifecycle and we’re looking forward to then moving on to our monitoring phase to gather the results of our actions towards demonstrating their effectiveness and benefits in their technical, societal, environmental and economic angles. This is actually the basis for our replication framework, which continues its development to support other cities becoming more sustainable environments.

In mid-November, we were back at the Barcelona Smart City World Expo where our speakers participated in sessions on city data strategies, measuring Smart City performance and Smart City strategies and governance. On the sidelines, we held informal coordinators and Dissemination and Communication task groups meeting and welcomed the new projects MatchUP, STARDUST and IRIS.

Our presence in Barcelona alongside the other first-generation Lighthouse projects gives us critical mass, greater visibility and increased impact. Many of those we met at our shared stand were impressed by how many actions Lighthouse projects are rolling out and by the tangible impact they are now starting to generate for the citizens of Lighthouse cities. We will continue to attend events like the Smart City World Expo in order to learn from, and teach to, our fellow projects and the wider smart city community.
